(Investigation into murder of Border Patrol agent far from over)….A 17 year old entered a guilty plea in the shooting death of Agent Robert Rosas Friday.

The 30-year-old Border Patrol Agent was shot several times and killed July 23 in an area near Campo. Officials say Christian Daniel Castro-Alvarez was in custody three weeks after the incident occurred. Castro Alvarez was apparently wounded and had turned himself to the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Even though Castro-Alvarez is a teen, he was tried as an adult. In entering his plea, the 17-year-old reportedly indicated he and a group had crossed the Border to lure Agent Rosas out of his vehicle in order to rob him. Once the agent was out of the Patrol vehicle, Castro-Alvarez and another fought with the agent before shooting him 8 times and killing him. The identity of the others involved has not been determined. Investigators, who include FBI and Homeland Security, have not said if the Agents weapon has been recovered. In fact, officials are not saying much, other than the investigation is continuing. Castro-Alvarez is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
