(County Celebrates National Adoption Day)…The National Day of recognition is Saturday. In imperial County, Judge Donal Donnelly will kick-off the events by helping to finalize thousands of adoptions Nationwide. The El Centro Courthouse is joining courts across the country and opening its doors to participate in National in National Adoption Day on Friday to finalize adoptions of children from foster care to celebrate all families that adopt. National Adoption Day is sponsored by a coalition of national partners, including the Alliance for Children’s Rights, Casey Family Services, Children’s Action Network, Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, and Freddie Mac Foundation, to draw special attention to the 129,000 foster children waiting to be adopted. In Imperial County, the County Board of Supervisors, Imperial County Children and Family Services, CASA of Imperial Valley and the Imperial County Superior Court are participating in the special day by working together to celebrate the joys of adoption and encouraging more families and individuals to give children permanent families through adoption. The number of adoptions finalized in Imperial County will be announced Friday afternoon.
