Former Marine wants to challenge Filner

(Candidate announces for 51^st Congressional District.)….The District is currently held by Democrat Bob Filner. Retired Marine Nick Popaditch announced recently his intention of becoming the Republican candidate. He has the support of retired Representative Duncan Hunter. The 42-year-old candidate said he announced his intentions at events in Chula Vista and El Centro. Filner’s Congressional District runs the length of the California/Mexico Border. The District is 48 percent Democrat and 27 percent republican. At his last election in 2008, Filner was re-elected with 73 percent of the vote.
