(Triple AAA budget cut)….Public Administrator Norma Saikhon asked the Board of Supervisors to approve a budget amendment to reflect the cuts. The Board took the request as an Emergency item. Saikhon said the cuts could result in many clients of the Area Agency on Aging to be institutionalized because they can no longer be treated in their homes. She said the State of California Department on Aging revised the Imperial County’s allocations for the Community Based Service Program and the Ombudsman Special Initiative baseline allocations, in addition to the AAA’s adjustments in Community Donations and Other Refunds/Reimbursements. Even with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Nutrition Stimulus funds, the Triple A is facing an overall reduction of $196,579. |
