(Four locals part of smuggling ring)….Immigration and Customs Enforcement served warrants Tuesday and early Wednesday.

They wound up arresting four. Two taken into custody were from Holtville. Officers arrested 44-year-old Martina Araceli Carreon and 47-year-old Jose Carreon. Also taken into custody were 37-year-old Ruben Servin Mejia and 49-year-old Maria Toledo Fierros, both from Calexico. All four are suspected participants in a smuggling ring that trafficked in drugs and human smuggling. ICE says the four were named in a five-count indictment handed down by a Los Angeles County Grand Jury. The indictment alleges the ring was operated by a Los Angeles Street Gang. In all, nine warrants were served, including the four in Imperial County. Only one remains outstanding.
