(Process underway for November election)…The Consolidated General Election will be held November 3.

Dolores Provincio, County Clerk/Recorder/Registrar of Voters, told the Board of Supervisors this week sample ballots and absentee ballots had been sent. She said the sooner the absentee ballots are returned, the sooner they can be counted. For many, they will be choosing representatives in school and special districts. Brawley, Calipatria and El Centro will be voting on City Council representatives. In Brawley three candidates; Sam Couchman, Toni Carrillo and Miguel Miranda are competing for two seats. In Calipat, five candidates are chasing three seats. Incumbents Kay Ours, Peter Fuentes and Fred Beltran are being challenged by Trevor Green and Patricia Nelson. In El Centro, incumbents Ben Soloman and Cheryl Viegas-Walker are being challenged by Jason Jackson. El Centro voters are also being asked to decide Measure “G”. The Measure asks if voters would prefer to change to a charter form of government. Polls on November 3 will open at 7:00 am and remain open until 8:00 pm.
