(Over 40 local firefighters sent to San Bernardino)…The two strike teams were dispatched to the “Sheep Fire” early Sunday morning.

El Centro Battalion Chief Tim Reel says each team consists of about 21 firefighters. Yuma Fire Department is part of the two teams. Reel said the firefighters were near the Wrightwood area. The local teams are providing structure protection. Reel says they are setting backfires in an attempt to protect homes in the area. The fire has reportedly scorched more than 3,500 acres, and destroyed some homes. Officials say the weather is cooperating, and that helps crews combat the blaze. The El Centro Battalion Chief, however, said it is too early to determine how long the local strike teams would remain on scene.
