The ballot for the November 3, 2009 , Consolidated General Election is almost set.

The deadline was 5:00 p.m. Friday August 7, 2009 but has been extended for several races where incumbants did not file. The deadline for those races is now Wednesday , August 12, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.

In the City of Brawley , incumbants John Benson and Steve Vasquez did not file for re-election which will extend the filing period. So far , two candidates have filed, Miguel Miranda snd Sam Couchman. Filing in the City of El Centro has closed. Incumbants Benjamin Soloman and Cheryl Viegas-Walker have filed for reelection and will have opposition from Jason Jackson.

The other races with extended filing deadlines are : Brawley Elementary, Calipatria Unified, Heber Elementary and Meadows Union school districts. Also open to filing are the Bombay Beach Community Services District, Niland Fire District, Niland Sanitary District, Salton Community Services District and Winterhaven Water District.

According to Imperial County Clerk Dolores Provencio the slate of candidates for other races are as follows:

Brawley Union High School - Ralph Fernandez, Helen M. Noriega and Hidali Garcia.

County Board of Education Area 4 - Sharon E. Anderholt and Mary B. Slaughter.

Holtville Unified School District - ( short term ) - Rochelle Rolfe and Laura F. Goodsell.

Imperial Unified School District - Michael R. Minnix, Eddie A. Sanchez, Abdul Mohamed, Ernestina Anchondo, Harley R. Smith, Patricia A. Thompson and Jill Tucker.

McCabe Union - Judy Tagg, Mark Larson and Veronica Wright.

Westmoreland Union Elementary School Districy - V.W. Bill Burns, Elizabeth Moreno, Thomas C. Marquez.

San Pasqual Valley Unified School District - Monica Montague, Vernon S. Smith, Dennis Aguerro.

Bombay Beach Community Services District - Catherine May Adams, Christine A. Harris, Shirley J. Ryan, Gloria B. Town and Steven Johnson.

Heber Public Utilities District - Sergio Escobedo, Humberto Montiel, Patsy Becerra, Martin A. Nolasco, Jr. and Diahna Garcia-Ruiz.

Seeley County Water District - Ross David Hansen, George L. Dern, Keith E. Baird, Donald H. Turner, Ed Cooney and Kimberly Lineses.

According to Provencio , several races have closed, there will be no election and the candidates will be appointed in Lieu of Election:

County Board of Education Area 1 - Herlinda Belcher

County Board of Education Area 2 - Alicia M. Armenta

El Centro Elementary School District - George McFaddin and Frances Terrazas

Holtville Unified School District ( 4 year term ) - Ben Abatti Jr., Kevin Grizzle, John Hawk

Palo Verde County Water District - Eloise M. Baatz-Bomyea, David E. McLaughlin

Winterhaven Fire Protection District - Mary Garcia, Kirk J. Nerva, Mark A. Sanchez and Victoria A Iniguez-Taylor.
