U.S. Border Patrol Agents arrested a convicted sex offender early Sunday morning near Calexico.

Border Patrol Agents working the Remote Video Surveillance Cameras watched the man climb over the International Boundary fence about a half mile west of the city of Calexico , California. The man was apprehended as he attempted to run north. Record checks showed the man , a Mexcan citizen , had been convicted of sexual battery in Madera County , California and had been deported from the United States in 1998. The man is being held in Imperial County Jail pending federal charges.
