Suspect trailed by witness

(Witness follows suspect)…El Centro police say a Silver Tahoe ran over a fire hydrant in front of Johnny Carinos at the Mall Tuesday evening. A witness reportedly followed the Tahoe after the driver fled the scene. Commander Ron Meredith says the witness tailed the suspect to a home in Holtville. The witness then called El Centro Police. Officers arrived, but the driver was nowhere to be found. Meredith says the Tahoe was impounded. The Commander says the suspect was finally located Wednesday morning. He says the incident was listed as a Hit and Run. A report was taken and submitted to the District Attorney’s office for further disposition.
