(Florida woman suffers major injuries)…The woman was a passenger in a single vehicle collision.

The California Highway Patrol says the incident occurred Tuesday night on Interstate 8. The CHP says just east of Dunaway Road, the driver of the eastbound vehicle lost control of the 2009 Toyota. The Highway Patrol did not release any names. The driver, identified only as a 41 year old from Arizona, was unable to regain control and the vehicle veered off onto the dirt shoulder and across the eastbound on-ramp to I-8 from Dunaway Road. The vehicle went airborne, collided with the perimeter fence and rolled several times, before coming to rest on its roof on the Frontage Road. The passenger, a 45-year-old Florida woman, was not wearing her seatbelts and suffered major injuries. She was flown to UCSD Medical center in San Diego for treatment. The driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment. The Highway Patrol says the collision is still under investigation.
