Bodies recovered near Calexico

(Two more bodies found in the All American Canal)….This could be the third body from one group of illegal immigrants. Deputy Coroner Sergeant Charles Lucas says he is not sure the reports are related, however. Lucas says he was called to the All American Canal near Rockwood at 4:00 pm Thursday. He said the body of a Mexican Male, around 18 years of age had been discovered. The Sergeant said as that body was being retrieved, he looked downstream and spotted another body floating in the Canal. Last week, the Coroners Office recovered a body in the same area near Calexico, after a group of illegal immigrants were caught after having rafted across the Canal. At the time, members of that group reported one of man had not made it across the Canal. Lucas said he will be talking with the Mexican Consulate in Calexico before determining if the cases are related. He said Consulate officials had interviewed the illegal immigrants that had been taken into custody. The second body was also a Mexican male around 30 years of age. Names of the deceased will not be released until the families are notified.
