IID worker finds body

(Body found in Canal near Calexico)….An Imperial Irrigation District employee reported the find at just before 7:00 Monday morning. The County Coroners office says the body was found in the Briar Main Canal, near Bowker and Cole Roads. Deputy Coroner Tommy Garcia said the family of the deceased man has not been notified, and the identity of the person cannot be released. It is suspected the man may have been with a group of suspected illegal immigrants arrested by Border Patrol agents Saturday. The group reportedly told the Border Patrol agents that one member of their group had not made it across the canal. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
