(Early morning apartment fire in Yuma)….Officials at Yuma Fire says the call came in at 5:45 Thursday morning.

They responded to the 200 block of West 5th Street. Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a strip of apartments. Personnel quickly found the apartment that was the source of the fire, and extinguished it. The source apartment suffered extensive damage, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it could do serious damage to any of the other seven apartments in the complex. They were also able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby structures. No injuries were reported in the fire. The American Red Cross responded to provide assistance to any displaced residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
