A group of students from Imperil Valley schools earned top awards in the 12th Annual California Department of Education Migrant Education Program State Speech and Debate Competition.

The Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program Community Foundation hosted the 17th Annual Dancing with the Stars fundraiser. The sold-out event was held at the Quechuan Casino Resort on Friday, May 1st. The Judge's Choice winner was Antonio Romayor and partner Ethel Da Siva. The People's Choice winner was Mia Hernandez and partner Susana Irigoyen and the Fundraising Team Award went to Ronnie Leimgruber and partner Alisha Nazareno. The annual event is sponsored by the IVROP Community Foundation and serves a growing need in the community by helping develop educational and economic opportunities. The Foundation's fundraising activities allow it to award scholarships to eligible individuals and support CTE student leadership organizations and groups.
