Sergio Romo of the San Francisco Giants picked up his first major league win Friday night against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The Brawley native was called up to the Giants earlier this season and so far has a 2.35 ERA in fifteen games. His Friday  night win was the first of his career at the major league level and evened his record at 1 and 1. The win came after a solid inning of relief in which he struck out 1 and walked 1. Best of all it came at Petco Park in San Diego in front of his parents, his wife, son, uncle , in-laws and lots of friends who made the two hour trip from the Imperial Valley to San Diego for the game against the Padres. Romo was quoted by MLB.com as saying, "It was awesome. It made it even more sweet and better because I was at home...and my family being here and able to see how the  game played out." Romo also said, " I wasn't necessarily more amped up but I was really, really excited just to have them here. It's a dream come true. Like everyone says, it's a childhood dream to play in the big leagues. I always wanted to , and I'm very proud to be here. I feel very privileged." Romo's win came at the expense of future Hall of Famer Trevor Hoffman. Sergio pitched a scoreless ninth inning and kept the game tied at 2..Hoffman gave up one run in the tenth inning and took the loss for the Padres. Final score was the San Francisco Giants 3. The San Diego Padres 2.
