San Diego - Imperial Valley’s own Gene Brister was formally welcomed to his new position on the Board of Directors of the San Diego and Imperial County American Red Cross Wednesday, June 27. 

“It’s a true honor and opportunity to serve the Imperial Valley as a member of this prestigious body.” stated Mr. Brister at the American Red Cross Annual meeting in San Diego. He continued by stating, "I sincerely look forward to the new challenge of making all communities in Imperial Valley America’s most prepared.”

Richard Ledford, President of Ledford Enterprises and immediate past Chairman of the Red Cross board stated, “Everyone at the San Diego/Imperial County Chapter of the American Red Cross are looking forward to working with Gene. "Gene fully understands the importance of our communities being properly prepared for whatever disaster might await us all and seeing to the Imperial County service center’s continued success.” he continued.

Vincent Mudd, President & CEO of San Diego Office Interiors, and the local Red Cross Board Chairman, reminded everyone that the work at hand is of a very serious nature. He went on to state, “When the crisis comes it doesn’t need to destroy everyone.”

"Gene's confirmation to our board is a testament to where we are today and where we're headed tomorrow. His generous commitment to support our Mission as an Imperial Valley representative to our board, will help lead our work of preparation for our community.", stated The American Red Cross Imperial Valley Service Center Director, Sylvia Preciado ."Slowly our IVSC has grown." She concluded.
