Josh Bard of the San Diego Padres has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount for his aggressive actions, including making contact with Umpire Ed Rapuano, during the top of the 11th inning of San Diego's game Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.
Bard has filed an appeal. Thus, his suspension, which had been scheduled to begin last night, will be held in abeyance until the process is complete. |
