San Diego, California - After a thorough review, the San Diego Padres announced yesterday that the club will limit, but not eliminate, the availability of alcohol in the clubhouse and on team charters. Chief Executive Officer Sandy Alderson made the announcement.

"Our revised policy resulted from a serious review of our current policy and was formulated with input from players and field staff," said Alderson. "The revised alcohol policy reflects a level of personal responsibility that we as an organization expect, and Padres players and staff have assumed, regarding the consumption of alcohol in clubhouses and on team flights."

Under the new policy, alcohol will continue to be available in the Padres clubhouse at PETCO Park and on the road, but quantities will be limited to ensure moderate, responsible consumption. Alcohol will not be served during the final two hours of a flight on team charters returning to San Diego, and will not be served at all on any charters to San Diego that are less than two hours in total duration. At this time, there will be no changes to the Padres alcohol policies for the visiting clubhouse at PETCO Park or for team charters not inbound to San Diego.
