San Diego Padre first-baseman Adrian Gonzalez will represent the San Diego Padres in the 2008 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

ADRIAN GONZALEZ SELECTED TO NL ALL-STAR TEAM

There can be no question who the shining star of the Padres' first half has been: Adrian Gonzalez. And now he can be called an All-Star, having been selected to the National League squad for the July 15 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium. The Padres' first baseman and San Diego County local is enjoying his finest individual season in the Majors, earning him his first trip to the midsummer gathering of baseball's elite.

Gonzalez ranks second in the National League in RBIs with 70 and he's the Padres leader in runs scored (52) and home runs (22).

Gonzalez joins Padres manager Bud Black on the NL All-Star squad. Black will be a member of NL manager Clint Hurdle's coaching staff.
