The San Diego Chargers are working to return to their winning ways. On Sunday, Oct. 7, they will visit Denver’s Invesco Field where they will face their AFC West nemesis, the Denver Broncos. CBS Sports will televise the game live from Denver with their top announcing team of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms on hand to call the action. Kickoff is set for 1:15 p.m. PDT.

In order to get the team back on track and end its first three game losing streak since 2003, the Chargers will look to their unquestioned leader and the NFL’s reigning Most Valuable Player, LaDainian Tomlinson, who will start his 100th career game on Sunday. Tomlinson had a big night when the teams met at Invesco Field in 2006, scoring four touchdowns and racking up a combined 179 yards from scrimmage.

Quarterback Philip Rivers will look for an improved performance in Denver. In his first-ever game
there last year, he completed 73 percent of his passes while throwing for 222 yards and a pair of scores in helping the Bolts overcome a 17-point third-quarter deficit to rally the team for a 35-27 victory.

On defense, the Bolts will look to the runner-up for the NFL’s 2006 Defensive Player of the Year Award, linebacker Shawne Merriman, who’s looking for his first-career sack at Invesco Field. Last Sunday against Kansas City, Merriman had a sack and two tackles for loss. He became the second-fastest and second-youngest player in NFL history to record 30 career sacks.

The Chargers have won two of the last three AFC West titles and are 13-6, including 6-3 on the road, in intra-division games since 2004. The AFC West figures to be a fight to the finish as all four teams come into this weekend’s games separated by just one game. The Broncos, Chiefs and Raiders are all 2-2 while the Bolts are just a game behind at 1-3.
