With a near-capacity crowd expected for this Sunday’s Chargers-Bears game, fans should expect delays getting to Qualcomm Stadium and into the parking lot.

The parking lot will open at 8 a.m. and is expected to fill quickly and could close as early as 10:30 a.m. The stadium entry gates will open at 11 a.m. for General Ticket Holders and at 10 a.m. for Club Seat and Suite Ticket Holders. A limited amount of paid overflow parking is available in the parking lot of the Chicago Title building, which is located off Northside Drive, west of the stadium.  Additional overflow parking is also available at the Town and Country Hotel (I-8 and Hotel Circle), the Marriott Mission Valley (Qualcomm Way and Rio San Diego Dr.) and San Diego State University (I-8 and College Ave. Rates and parking lots vary).  Fans can ride the San Diego Trolley to the stadium from each of these parking locations. A paid Trolley ticket is required before boarding the Trolley to the stadium.

Fans are encouraged to ride the Trolley to the stadium. Round-trip Trolley tickets range from $3.00-$6.00. The Trolley now offers the enhanced Green Line between Old Town and Santee before and after all games. There are several options along the Green Line from the East County, including the El Cajon Transit Center (Main St. at Marshall); Grossmont Transit Center (8601 Fletcher Parkway at Grossmont Center Dr.) and Grantville Trolley Station (I-8 at Mission Gorge).  Fans can also pick up the Trolley at Hazard Center (parking is free on Hazard Center’s lower level, corner of Friars Road and Frazee), the Old Town Transit Center (Pacific Highway at Taylor Street) and Petco Park.  The Green Line begins running three hours before kickoff.

The MTS Chargers Express Bus is another convenient way to get to the stadium on game day. Chargers Express Bud round-trip fares are $10 and exact change is required. Bus service begins two hours before game time. The last departure to the stadium will leave each site 45 minutes before kickoff. Following the game, Chargers Express Buses will leave the stadium 20 minutes after the game ends. The Express Bus has five pick-up locations:

  • Kearny Mesa Traffic Court (Clairemont Mesa Blvd. east of SR 163).
  • Governor Drive & I-805 Park & Ride
  • Spring St. Trolley Station (Spring St. north of Hwy. 94)
  • Mira Mesa Park & Ride (Interstate 15 and Mira Mesa Blvd.)
  • Chula Vista High School (820 4th Ave. in Chula Vista )

For more information on the Chargers Express Bus or San Diego Trolley, visit www.sdmts.com or call 5-1-1.

Fans traveling to the stadium from the North County also have the option of riding the North County Express Breeze Bus with service along the I-5 and I-15 corridors with departures from the Escondido and Oceanside Transit Centers. Round-trip fare is $12 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Additional information, including departure times, is available online at www.gonctd.com.

Fans coming from Orange and Los Angeles Counties can take advantage of Amtrak’s Chargers Express service, which offers a special round-trip fare that includes travel directly to and from Qualcomm Stadium via the Chargers Express Train and the San Diego Trolley. For schedule and ticket information, contact Amtrak at 1-800-USA-Rail or log onto www.Chargers.com.

Fans attending all Chargers home games need to be aware that the City of San Diego plans to aggressively enforce two city ordinances. Smoking is prohibited inside the stadium and glass bottles are banned from the parking lot. The San Diego Police Department and Elite Security will be strictly enforcing these ordinances and violators will be prosecuted. In an effort to assure a safe and enjoyable game-day experience, every fan entering Qualcomm Stadium will be subject to a “pat-down” search.
