Nighttime Zoo puts Behind-the-scenes staff center stage.

The San Diego Zoo's animal care staff has some great stories to tell. Some are funny and some are touching, while others make you question what you really know about animals. In the Nighttime Zoo show, Talamasca: The Storytellers, you can hear the keepers' stories first hand and watch as acrobats and trapeze artists perform acts inspired by these tales.

"Our keepers are a humble group and aren't used to getting so much attention." said Phil Leiss, special events manager for the San Diego Zoo. "I believe this show gives them the recognition they deserve for all their hours of hard work and concern for our animals."

The multimedia show uses song, dance, and multiple screens throughout the theatre to share memorable tales about rhinos, orangutans, polar bears and the people who care for them.

Talamasca: The Storytellers debuts at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27 in the Hunte Amphitheatre at the San Diego Zoo, and will be performed every night until Sept.1. Nighttime Zoo's Fiesta! is included with Zoo admission. Visit www.sandiegozoo.org or call 619-231-1515 for more information.

The 100-acre San Diego Zoo is operated by the not-for-profit Zoological Society of San Diego.  The Zoological Society, dedicated to the conservation of endangered species and their habitats, engages in conservation and research work around the globe.  The Zoological Society also manages the 1,800-acre San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park (more than half of which has been set aside as protected native species habitat) and the center for Conservation and Research for Endangered Species (CRES). The important conservation and science work of these entities is supported in part by the Foundation for the Zoological Society of San Diego.
