An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter Scale rocked the Los Angeles area shortly before noon Tuesday. The temblor was centered about 3 miles west southwest of Chino Hills in San Bernardino County , about 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Several aftershockes were also reported. Buildings swayed  downtown and in the Wilshire District. There are no immediate reports of injuries or damages. The jolt was felt in San Diego and , according to some,  as far away as Las Vegas. The quake was initially reported as 5.8 but was revised down to 5.4 on the open-ended Richter Scale.
