Imperial Valley - The San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross today welcomed Chris Marek as director of development and communications. In this position, Marek will be responsible for leading the chapter in meeting its fundraising and communications goals, which will enhance the Red Cross’s ability to fulfill its mission of preventing, preparing for and responding to local emergencies.
As director of the Development and Communications Department, Marek will act as spokesperson for the chapter and will oversee Red Cross activities in fundraising, community relations, special events, legislative affairs, outreach, and revenue generation. In addition to meeting fundraising goals, Marek plans to focus on appreciation of Red Cross donors, as well as exceeding the expectations of sponsors and supporters.
Marek joins the Red Cross after two successful years as the development director at the Salvation Army Kroc Center. A former member of the executive team for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors and a top-level marketing strategist at 24 Hour Fitness, he brings to the Red Cross an extensive background in communications and marketing which will be beneficial in helping the Red Cross increase visibility of its programs and services within the community.
About the American Red Cross, San Diego and Imperial Counties Chapter
The American Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on the generosity of the American people to provide our programs and services. The San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter is leading the effort to make San Diego and Imperial Counties ‘America’s most prepared communities.’ With the public’s ongoing support we provide life saving preparedness training; disaster relief services; 24-hour emergency services to deployed military personnel and their families; and nutritional counseling through our Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. For more information about or to support the chapter please contact 858-309-1200 or visit www.sdarc.org. |
