(English Road Bridge is now open)…It was completely re-built.
County Public Works held a ribbon cutting Tuesday to celebrate the re-opening. The Bridge is the first bridge completely reconstructed by Public Works in 13 years. The Bridge, located northwest of Niland, was damaged by a storm in 2013. A more detailed inspection of the structure determined it would be needed to rebuild the bridge. Public Works Director William Brunet said the most difficult part of the project was to obtain the funds to pay for the reconstruction. Brunet said the completion of the project is a significant part of his Department’s Bridge rehabilitation project. County Supervisor Jack Terrazas was on hand to cut the ribbon, reopening the English Road Bridge.
