Eight additional Imperial County Regional Adult Detention Facility inmates have tested positive for COVID-19.

This brings make a total of 10 inmates that have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began. Two Imperial County Jail staff members have also tested positive for the virus.

Of the new inmate cases , five were previously housed in the same location as the first two cases. The other 3 cases were identified during the booking process. All of the inmates who have tested positive have been placed in isolation. The Sheriff's Office has enhanced the protocol during the booking process to detect high-risk inmates as they are booked into the system. An outside source has also been hired to properly sanitize the housing unit where the COVID-19 positive inmates were previously held and the Sheriff's Office is working with the Imperial County Public Health Department to test all inmates and staff members.

The staff members who tested positive are currently self-quarantined at home.
