(Human and Narcotics smugglers)…They were arrested over the weekend in separate incidents.

The first incident happened at just after 9:00 Saturday night. A 31 year old man with a 21 year old female passenger attempted to circumvent the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Highway 111. Agents followed the black Nissan until it stopped. Agents approached the occupants and found they were US citizens. They also found two men in the trunk of the vehicle. They were both in this country illegally. The men were described only as being 34 and 38 year old and both from Mexico. They also found a loaded firearm in the woman’s purse. A small amount of cocaine, methamphetamine and ecstasy was also found. The second incident occurred in the early morning hours Sunday. A 55 year old man with a 37 year old female passenger drove up to the Highway 86 Checkpoint. A k-9 alerted to the vehicle and it was sent to the secondary inspection area. Agents found a grocery bag with seven packages of methamphetamine inside. Zip lock bags were found in the woman’s purse containing small amounts of meth and heroin. The meth weighed 8 pounds and the heroin 2.4 grams. The total value was set at $21,000
