(Wind Blown brush fire)…It was reported Saturday afternoon.

An investigation is underway to determine how the fire started. The blaze was first reported Saturday afternoon, and soon went to a four alarm fire. Fire crews had to fight strong gusty winds in an attempt to stop the fast moving brush fire. Every Fire Department in the County and Yuma sent an engine to the scene. Two strike teams, one from Riverside County and another from San Diego County. Imperial Irrigation Crews, California Highway Patrol, County Sheriff’s and Brawley Police were all on scene. Local farmers donated tractors to help make containment lines. The fire burned 285 acres before it was finally stopped before reaching a trailer park on Legion Road in South Brawley. The trailer park had been evacuated as a precaution. County officials say the assistance was invaluable in stopping what could have been a major disaster.
