(Unemployment shows small increase)…The July numbers were released Friday morning.
The report is released by Labor Market Information Division of the Employment Development Department. According to the latest report, unemployment increased in July to 24.2 percent. That is up from the revised 22.7 percent released in June, and below the year-ago estimate of 28.1 percent. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 6.5 percent for the state and 5.6 percent for the nation during the same period. The report indicates there were 19,000 eligible workers unemployed in July, out of a labor force of 78,600.
