(The Annual Shop With A Cop)….It is coming up this Saturday.

This will be the 20th annual Shop With A Cop event in El Centro. First responders are paired with a qualified child for a $100 shopping spree at Target. Between $12,000 and $15,000 is raised to ensure over 100 children can be served each year. This year 120 children have been chosen to participate. That is the highest number of children since the event began 20 years ago. The Imperial Valley Shop With A Cop operates under the umbrella of United Families, an agency that provides child care services for low income families in the Imperial and Riverside counties. They work with the First Responders, local service clubs and businesses to meet their goal every year. Saturday afternoon the kids will be taken to lunch at Southwest High School, then a caravan of first responders, with sirens blaring, will transport the children to Target. The caravan will be led by Santa Claus.
