(School District issues a statement)…It was issued by the Calexico Unified School District.

It concerns negotiations with the Associated Calexico Teachers. They say the District negotiation Team has met with the Teacher’s Negotiation Team three times; on October 23rd, November 14th and November 19th. They say the current discussions have centered on faculty meetings, personnel file contents, salary and health and welfare benefits. The District says at the November 14th session they proposed a 15% salary increase for ACT members, effective July 1st, 2019 conditioned upon ACT acceptance of a $10,000 annual cap on the district’s contribution for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, effective July 1st, 2020. The statement says the district’s Insurance Committee has met to explore less expensive providers of similar health and welfare benefits. The teachers have picketed this week, drawing attention to the fact that there has been no new contract.
