(Juvenile Ranch is closing)… The Juvenile Ranch Facility is in Campo.
The minimum-security inmates will be transferred to Camp Barrett in Alpine. San Diego County says the facility in 2010 housed 128 juveniles each day. They say this year that number has declined to 45. Officials say the closure will save the county about $700,000 per year, and the inmates will be closer to medical treatment, both physical and mental. No employees will be laid off. They will all be transferred to other facilities.
