(Local Clothing line wins major award)….It was announced by the Cancer Resource Center of the Desert.
The Center said their Survivorwear recently won top honors at the UCLA Social Enterprise Venture Competition and Showcase. Survivorwear is the Center’s clothing line for cancer patients. The prestigious regional competition is hosted by the Academies for Social Entrepreneurship, and comes with a $15,000 prize. The competition is open to nonprofit organizations that successfully complete the rigorous program at the UCLA Social Enterprise Academy. Diana Peacher, CEO of the Cancer Resource Center of the Desert, says they were honored that Survivorwear was recognized because they know how meaningful it is for cancer patients to have clothing that restores dignity and comfort back into their lives. Peacher said they were also pleased because the showcase recognizes social enterprises for their sound business practices and economic sustainability.
