(Unemployment down slightly)…The latest numbers available are for May.
They were released recently by the Labor Market Information Division of the Employment development Department. May unemployment for the Imperial County came in at 21.3 percent. That is down from a revised 22.8 percent recorded in April, and below the year ago estimate of 22.8 percent. This compares to an unadjusted jobless rate of 6.2 percent for the state and 5.3 percent for the nation during the same time period. During May in Imperial County 16,900 eligible workers were unemployed out of a labor force of 79,200.
