(First ever Imperial County Hemp Summit and Expo)…It was held Friday and Saturday.

There have been no official comments, but it appears the event was a success. The new Ag Bill allowed for the growing and sale of Industrial Hemp, and Imperial County decided to take advantage, creating a new industry in the County. The County and the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation joined forces to stage an educational event covering several topics dealing with the Hemp industry, including financing, crop growth, transportation, legal aspects and more. Hemp is different than marijuana in that it has very low levels of THC and is used to create products for sale. Many of the products were on display at the expo in the Casa De Manana Building at the Imperial County Fairgrounds.
