Two El Centro residents have been arrested for writing fake prescriptions for Oxycodone.
On Wednesday , June 3, 2015 , El Centro Police arrested 31-year old Ricardo Ibarra and 28-year old Crystal Obeso. The ECPD Investigations Division withthe assistance of agents from the Department of Homeland Security Investigations , determined that the two were using prescription pads stolen from local doctors offices to write fraudulent prescriptions for Oxycodone , a powerful pain medication and Schedule II narcotic. The bogus prescriptions were made out in several different names and filled at several small local pharmacies in El Centro, Brawley and Imperial.
On Wednesday , surveillance of Ibarra and Obeso led to Ibarra being detained as he left a local doctors office after a consultation. A search of Ibarra led to the discovery of several blank prescription pads. It is believed that Ibarra had just stolen them from the doctors office. Obeso was detained as she waited in a car for Ibarra's return. Both suspects were booked into Imperial County Jail for burglary and conspiracy to posses stolen property. Bail was set at $25,000 for each suspect.
