(Two previously deported gang members arrested)…The Border Patrol made the arrests in separate incidents.

The first occurred Saturday. Agents observed a man illegally enter the US 3 miles west of the Calexico Downtown Port. The 42 year old Mexican National was taken to the El Centro Station where it was determined he had been convicted for the sale and transport of narcotics. He was also a self admitted member of the notorious Sureno gang. He had been deported back to Mexico in 2007. The 2nd arrest happened Sunday after Border Patrol agents observed a man illegally enter the US about 12 miles east of the Calexico Port. The 20 year old was arrested and taken to the El Centro Border Patrol Station. Agents determined the man was from El Salvador and had been deported from the US numerous times. He is identified as an active member of the MS 13 criminal gang. Both are being held in federal custody pending prosecution.
