U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a woman with drugs strapped to her body.
The incident occurred at about 9:45 A.M. Wednesday when a car approached the checkpoint on Highway 86 between Westmorland and Salton City. A 67-year old man was driving and a 22-year old woman was a passenger. The vehicle was referred to secondary inspection where it was determined the driver was a paid "raitero " ( unlicensed taxi ) giving the woman a ride. While in secondary inspection , a Canine Detection team alerted to the vehicle. The woman then admitted that she had illegal substances taped to her upper thighs. Two packages containing 1.3 pounds of cocaine were discovered. The woman , a United States citizen , and the driver , a Lawfully Admitted Permanent resident , were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
