Four families displaced by fire

(Apartment fire in Yuma)…The fire was reported at 2:00 Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews arrived at the Apartment on West 12th Street to find heavy smoke and flames. The fire was on the second floor of building 19 of the complex. Officials say there was no one home at the time of the fire. They say adjacent apartments were evacuated safely. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire, containing it to the apartment where it originated. They say the apartment and its contents were extensively damaged and were not able to be reoccupied. The occupants, three adults and 2 children, were assisted by the American Red Cross. The occupants of three other apartments were also displaced and assisted by the Red Cross. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
