(The boss comes to town)…That is, if you work for the Department of Corrections. Matthew Cate, Secretary of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation toured the two State Prisons in Imperial County. He also visited other CDCR facilities, including the state parole office and Regional Accounting in El Centro. An entourage of CDCR executives accompanied the Secretary on his visit. He toured the Centinela Facility first. On Wednesday Cate was at the Calipatria State Prison. During the visit to the Calipat facility Cate presented the prison’s Dental Department with a letter of commendation for being the first Maximum Security Level 4 institution to successfully pass the Perez Court Expert’s Audit. Cate also thanked Warden Scott McEwen for his hard work and dedication during his assignment to the Calipat facility. And, he wished him well on his next assignment. McEwen will fill a temporary assignment and serve as Warden at the Prison in Lancaster, in Los Angeles County. Chief Deputy Warden G.J. Janda will assume the duties of Warden at the Calipat Prison in his absence. Matthew Martel will take over as Chief Deputy Warden.
