The California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta was closed Sunday due to sustained high winds.

According the fair officials the decision to not open the gates was made due to the concern over health and safety risks for fairgoers. The livestock competition continued with the Parade of Champions scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The National Weather Service had issued a Wind Advisory for west winds of 15 to 25 mph gusting up to 40 mph. The Wind Advisory in effect until 8:00 p.m. Sunday Sustained winds in the upper 20 to mid-35 mph were recorded late Sunday morning and early afternoon. Gusts touched 41 miles per hour.
