(Suspicious candy seized)…Two were arrested.
It was reported at the Highway 86 Checkpoint. Border Patrol agents referred the vehicle to the secondary inspection area after a canine detection team alerted to the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of boxes containing Dulces de Tamarindo. Several of the Mexican Candies were tested. The results were that they were laced with methamphetamine. The candies were seized and the two in the vehicle, 48 year old Jose Villareal and 47-year-old Maria Villareal, were placed under arrest. Both of the legal permanent residents, the vehicle and the narcotic laced candy were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
