According to the latest numbers, May unemployment came in at 16.4 percent. That is up from the revised 16.3 percent unemployment rate in April, and above the year ago estimate of 15.9 percent. This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 3.5 percent for the state and 3.4 percent for the nation during the same period. During the month of May there were 11,300 eligible workers unemployed out of a labor force of 69,000.
