(The County will have a balanced budget)…Thanks to Solar Projects in Imperial County.
A Budget hearing was held Monday. The County Board of Supervisors were presented a spending plan that included revenues of $322,146,853. Expenditures were at $338,420, 605. The deficit was covered by a $60,574,878 carryover from the year before. A carryover also wiped out a $9 million deficit in the General Fund. Revenues for the General Fund were presented at $220,341,280, while expenditures were at $229,078,462. A $23 million carryover eliminated the deficit. The carryovers were mostly from the increase in sales tax revenues from solar projects conditional use permits, that designate Imperial County as the point of sale for the purchase of materials and suppliers subject to sales tax. The Supervisors said they may need one more budget hearing to finalize all issues, before they adopt a spending plan that not only is balanced but has a surplus.
