(AARP) Actress Sally Field delivered a different kind of line on May 17 when she visited Capitol Hill to discuss the need to raise awareness for osteoporosis. The 60-year-old actress says with one in two women experiencing an osteoporosis-related fracture, there is a growing need to educate the public on ways to reduce ones risk of the disease. Field, an osteoporosis patient and advocate, also emphasized the need for women to undergo a bone density test. Osteoporosis is a silent disease that affects bone density and can only be diagnosed through the use of this test or if someone experiences a bone fracture. In addition to serving as an advocate in Washington, D.C., Field is also leading an AARP campaign, “Rally with Sally for Bone Health.”
