Rookie Marco Andretti was yards away from history before Sam Hornish Jr. beat him at the line to win the Indy 500. It looked like years of Andretti frustrations would be appeased, but Sam Hornish Jr.. With four laps to go Hornish made his move to pass Michael Andretti, then later Marco at the finish line. It was the second-closest finish in the races history, with 0.0635 seconds separating Hornish from Marco.
