EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles Lakers have requested waivers on guards Von Wafer and J.R. Pinnock, it was announced today.
Wafer averaged 1.3 points in seventeen games last season after being selected in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft with the Lakers 39th pick overall. The 6-5 guard out of Florida State played in only one preseason game this October before sitting out the remainder of the preseason with a bruised left heel.
Pinnock, an early entry candidate out of George Washington, was acquired by the Lakers on draft night after sending a 2007 second round draft pick acquired from Miami to Dallas in exchange for the draft rights to Pinnock (58th overall). The 6-5 guard averaged 14.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.5 steals in earning First Team All Atlantic-10 honors as a junior last season. In seven preseason games with the Lakers, Pinnock averaged 1.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 12.3 minutes.
The Lakers roster now stands at 16 players. |
