The 7 and 1 Central Spartans of Coach Kevin Bird will host Imperial Valley League rival Calexico Bulldogs at Cal Jones Field Friday night and KXO  AM1230 will broadcast the game live.

Third year Coach Joe Apodaca will lead the 'Dogs (2 - 5) onto the  familiar turf as he and the Border City team look for their first IVL win of the year. Last week the Bulldogs hung with the Brawley Wildcats before losing 28-12 in Calexico. A solid running game backed up by a good passing attack can score but the defense will need to bring it up a bit to stop the Spartans. Linebacker Chris Wong had a good game against Brawley as did defensive backs Sergio Martinez and Eric Romero. Wide receiver Luis Magana is one of Quarterback Edgar Alarcons favorite targets. Magana also chipped in with a 78 yard kick-off return for a touchdown against Brawley. Luis Macias is another of Alarcons receivers. Running backs Ruben Dagdagen and Oscar Sanchez look to get a lot of carries. Willie Burgos has been injured and it's not known wether he'll be available Friday. The Spartans will go after the Bulldogs with a tenacious defensive front that includes Angel Romero, Luis Martinez and Bryan Avelar and a solid set of linebackers in Joe Signorotti , Sam Rolfe and Brock Moore. The Central offense is led by senior QB Karl Chick who is able to hand off to a platoon of running backs that includes Benny Carter, Ricky Smith, Jaqueem Coleman as well as Moore and Signorotti. Steven Singh adds a whole different dimension to the Spartans on both sides of the ball. Catching tosses from Chick as well as making pics in the defensive secondary. Solid line play sets the Spartans offense in motion. Jon Driffill ,Matt Juleson and Carroll Buckley will be on the air Friday night at 6:45 with the pre-game show with kick-off at 7:00 PM on AM1230 KXO. Scores and updates from the games involving Imperial Valley teams will be available all night long on http://kxoradio.com
