(Yuma Fire Department receives Accreditation)…The Yuma Fire Department has again received its certification as an Accredited Agency by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. Fire service professionals from around the Country were sent to Yuma in May to inspect the facilities, review procedures, and interview personnel. The recommendation was reviewed for final approval during the Commission’s meeting last month at the Fire-Rescue International conference in Denver, Colorado. Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Light, Battalion Chief Steve Irr and Computer Support Specialist Traci Frazier were at the Denver conference for the final review and received the award certification at a ceremony August 14. The Yuma Department was praised for its progressive practices and attention to detail. Yuma was first accredited in 2003, when the last site visit was conducted. The Yuma Fire Department is one of only 130 accredited fire departments in the world.
